Introduction to Ecobricks
Eco-bricks are PET bottles densely packed with non-recyclable plastics and can be used like traditional bricks. The main purpose of eco-bricking is to sequester plastic and keep plastic out of our ecosystems. By preventing plastic from continuing in the plastic cycle (transportation, incineration, etc.) we can also help remove CO2 from the atmosphere. Eco-bricking is a zero cost and simple way to deal with plastics and is an activity that all people can participate in.
How to Make Eco-bricks

1. Clean and dry all non-recyclable plastics and PET bottles
2. Put one large piece of soft plastic on the bottle of the PET bottle (ex. plastic bags) to fill in bottle dents and give a strong foundation
3. Cut up other pieces of non-recyclable plastics (maximizes density)
4. Densely pack the plastic into the bottle using a long stick (iron rod, wooden stick, etc.)
5. Fill up the bottle until it fulfills the eco-brick density equation (0.33 g/mL)

Important Reminders:
- ONLY put plastic in eco-bricks (no paper, food, etc.)
- Makes sure ALL plastic is clean (prevents mold growth)
- Prevent air bubbles from forming (gives eco-bricks a better and denser structure)
